Adventure Club for Home Ed

Beach. Downs. Rockpools. Shelters. Games. Space to be kids.

Tuesdays 9.30-12.30

Starting Tuesday 15 September.

A three-hour outdoor adventure club for home-educated children, built around exploring the brilliant natural playground we have here in Sussex.

Less sitting down. More getting out there.

Kids Adventurist Club for Home Ed is about getting outside, discovering new places, building confidence and becoming part of a small, welcoming outdoor community.

Our sessions will be based around Saltdean, using the beach, rockpools, the South Downs and local green spaces, adapting to the conditions, tides and children.

We’ll walk, explore, play games, make things, investigate nature and follow where the adventure takes us — as well as how the children are feeling that day.

There’s always a plan, but there will also be plenty of room for the adventure to take us somewhere else. We believe in child-led experiences, so we’ll see how the children are doing and help support them in what they want to discover and do.

What do we do At Kids Adventurist Club?

The simple answer is: get outside and have adventures.

Activities will change with the seasons, the weather, where we are and what the children are interested in. Every session will include a mix of exploring, making, playing and time to simply enjoy being outdoors.

We might be:

  • Rockpooling and exploring the shoreline

  • Fossil hunting and beachcombing

  • Playing beach games and taking on team challenges

  • Wading and splashing when the weather and conditions are right — but not sea swimming

  • Walking and exploring the South Downs

  • Building shelters and dens out in the open

  • Making natural crafts from the things we find

  • Spotting wildlife and investigating the changing seasons

  • Learning simple outdoor skills

  • Playing plenty of games

  • Chatting, relaxing and enjoying some space in the great outdoors

We’re not looking to cram every minute with organised activities.

Sometimes the best adventures begin because someone spots something interesting, asks a brilliant question or finds a path we haven’t followed before. Children will have space to explore, make choices and help shape the session.

Who Can Attend?

Children Attend independently — aged 8+

If children are new to Kids Adventurist, when you book, we’ll schedule in a quick chat to make sure we get to know the child, understand their needs and are confident we can support them safely.

Children who have been to Kids Adventurist before - we look forward to welcoming them back ;-)

Because we work in open environments such as beaches, the Downs and public outdoor spaces, we believe it’s important to take the time to get to know each child properly — their needs, interests, boundaries and how they respond to different situations.

It isn’t a box-ticking exercise. It’s about building trust to ensure every child can be suitably catered for.

Who’s leading the adventures?

Sessions will be led by Matt and Anna.

Between us, we bring plenty of experience working with children outdoors, with qualifications and experience across Forest School, Beach School, outdoor learning and education. Anna is also a qualified teacher. We both hold current 16-hour Outdoor First Aid qualifications, helping us provide safe and appropriate care in the outdoor environments we use.

Qualifications matter, but so does how children feel when they are with us.

We believe in giving children the space to explore, make choices, take sensible risks, get muddy, ask questions, try things and enjoy being outside. We’ll guide the adventure, manage the safety and help create a relaxed, welcoming group where children and families can get to know us, and one another - adventure after adventure.

Why Families Love Us (and Keep Coming Back)

“My kids absolutely love this adventure group. They get to explore the outdoors, playing in nature all day. There are lots of child-led activities too which my kids love. The staff are super friendly and you get a fantastic email afterwards detailing all the activities the kids have completed that day. I love seeing their muddy little smiling faces at the end of the day. Long may it continue!”

This experience stands out from indoor clubs, multi-activity camps, and classroom-style holiday programs — especially for families in Brighton, Hove, Saltdean and the wider Sussex area who want something truly adventurous and nature-based.
