5 Fun Things to Do Outdoors with Your Kids This Sunday in Saltdean
The sun is shining, the air is crisp, and it’s the perfect day to bundle up and explore the great outdoors with your little adventurers in and around Saltdean this Sunday.
Here’s 5 family-friendly, low to no cost ideas you could do with your little adventurists this Sunday:
🌳 Treasure Hunt on Saltdean Beach
Grab a bucket and take the kids to Saltdean Beach for a mini treasure hunt! Set them a challenge - look for unique shells, smooth pebbles, a fallen feather, whelk eggs (those round things that look like bubble wrap), a mermaid’s purse and maybe if they’re really lucky… a fossil! Don’t forget to pause and take in the gorgeous views of the cliffs while listening to the sea slowly lap up the shore. High tide today Is 12.35pm, so if you want to look below the shoreline, you’ll need to go this morning or as the sun sets.
🌳 Mini Hike and Picnic in the South Downs
From Saltdan we are very lucky to have so many routes into the South Downs. So why not pack a flask of your favourite hot drink (think about the kids too!) and head off into the downs. Choose an easy trail that’s perfect for little legs, like the gate at Longridge Avenue over to the Tye or for something shorter, park at Bishopstone Drive and walk down Whiteways into Rottingdean for a picNic in Kiplings gardens. The fresh air and wide-open spaces over the downs are guaranteed to burn off some energy (and make room for Sunday roast later)!
🌳 Garden Nature Art
If you’d rather stay closer to home, step outside and create some nature-inspired art with the kids. Collect leaves, twigs, or even stones to build animal shapes, faces, or patterns. You could start to make your on Mandala, whichIt’s a fun way to get creative while connecting with nature in your own garden or nearby green space. Kids that have b even going to Kids Adventurist over the last few weeks have been enjoying making their own Stick Man, using leaves for feet and pine ones for heads, creating their own stories as they go.
🌳 Cycle along the Undercliff
Layer up and head out for a family bike ride around along the undercliff. Nice and flat, it’s a great way to cover a good distance and enjoy the sunshine. Whenever your little one pauses to inspect a drying up puddle, or pick up a cool piece of seaweed, pause, stop with them. You’ll never know what new world you’ll discover with your little ones in tow. Plus - look out for the seal who’s been gracing our shores this last week!
🌳 Outdoor Storytime Under a Tree
Find a sunny patch in your garden or at pencil park or the Oval. Bring a cozy blanket, and read a favorite book together under a tree. It’s a wonderful way to slow down, chill out, and enjoy some relaxing time outdoors together. Bring a hot water bottle if you want to, but there are plenty of places around saltdean to read you and your kids favourite books.
This sunny Sunday is a gift, so bundle up, head outside, and make some beautiful memories with your kids. Whether it’s splashing by the shore or spotting birds in the South Downs, the adventure is waiting! 🌞🌊🌳
